Aperçus cinéscriptographiques (phrases et images-sources)
Septembre–octobre 2008
Pendant mes vacances de septembre 2008, je prends une série de photographies au bord de la Loire, à Combleux :
Le dimanche 26 octobre 2008, j’envoie plusieurs courriers électroniques, avec pour objet « Opération Super Loire », accompagnés de ces images à différentes émissions radiophoniques de France Inter, notamment Parking de Nuit et Au détour du monde. Dans l’un de ces messages, j’écris :
— « De la berge de ma gamberge, je vous suis.
Je vous joins quelques photos de la super Loire ! »
Le vendredi 31 octobre 2008, dans un message adressé à Au détours du monde, j’écris :
— « Pour celui qui débute, nous allons nous mettre en mode “carré-soleil”, en couveuse : par mille chemins, et nous permettre de bronzer ! »
Le même jour, à 21 h 30 précise, pendant l’émission Parking de Nuit, j’envoie un seul mot dans l’espace des commentaires :
— « Soleil »
Plus tard dans la soirée, dans les commentaires de l’émission Allô la planète de France Inter, j’écris :
— « Kissé ? En duvet embrassé Aloha la planète. »
Évènement ultérieur (mémoire révélatrice)
- Lors du week-end de la Toussaint, début novembre 2008, une crue importante de la Loire survient, rappelant par son ampleur les grandes crues historiques du fleuve.
- Le 2 novembre 2008, Madelyn Dunham, grand-mère maternelle de Barack Obama, décède à Hawaï.
Intensification : au moment de l’annonce du décès de Madelyn Dunham sur l’antenne de France Inter, l’information est suivie en contrepoint de celle de la crue de la Loire. La présentatrice conclut son édition du soir en précisant :
— « Pour ceux qui y voient un signe ».
- Le 3 novembre 2008, dans un discours de campagne à Charlotte, en Caroline du Nord, Barack Obama laisse apparaître une larme en évoquant sa grand-mère.
- Le 4 novembre 2008, Barack Obama est élu 44ᵉ président des États-Unis.
Lecture cinéscriptographique (a posteriori)
Relus après ces événements, les aperçus dessinent une trajectoire fluide organisée autour de l’eau, du déplacement et du changement d’échelle.
La Loire apparaît d’abord comme un espace de mémoire et de circulation : gabarres immobiles, barque légère, distances gravées, crue ancienne inscrite dans la pierre.
La ligne d’oies au bord du fleuve introduit une figure de portage et d’alignement, entre sol et eau, entre stabilité et mouvement.
Les inscriptions photographiées — niveaux de crue, distances — installent un rapport au temps long, aux seuils, aux passages.
Les envois radiophoniques dessinent ensuite un déplacement sans déplacement : du refuge nocturne (Parking de Nuit), au cheminement (Au détours du monde), jusqu’à l’échelle planétaire (Allô la planète).
Le mot « Soleil », envoyé seul, agit comme un déclencheur minimal.
La formule « Aloha la planète » marque une bascule vers un ailleurs insulaire, océanique, lointain.
La mémoire révélatrice — crue du fleuve, décès à Hawaï, élection présidentielle — ne valide aucune intention. Elle donne à cette suite d’images et de gestes une résonance géographique et historique : eau qui monte, disparition, transmission, bascule politique.
Le cinéscriptographe ne décrit ni un voyage réel ni un événement politique.
Il enregistre une circulation sensible, continue, qui part d’un fleuve local et s’ouvre, sans rupture, à l’échelle du monde.

Ce cinéscriptographe ne prétend ni anticiper ni provoquer les événements évoqués.
Il rassemble des images, des phrases et des gestes tels qu’ils ont été produits, puis relus après coup.
Le lien établi relève d’une continuité perceptive et poétique, non d’une causalité.
Il observe comment l’eau, les distances, les noms et les voix peuvent, à un moment donné, dessiner une trajectoire commune et devenir un lieu de mémoire.

Cinescriptographic glimpses (source phrases and images)
September–October 2008
During my September 2008 holidays, I take a series of photographs along the Loire River, in Combleux: see images above.
- A lock identified as Écluse de la Patache.
- Two barges moored on the Loire.
- The same barges, photographed again from the same bank, with a line of geese in the foreground.
- An inscription carved in stone indicating the level reached by the flood of October 20, 1846.
- A sign indicating distances, along the right bank of the Loire, from Combleux to Briare, Orléans, Tours, Angers, Nantes, and Saint-Nazaire.
- A flat-bottomed wooden boat typical of the Loire.
- A yellow mullein flower.
- A drop of yellow paint deposited on a photographic negative, printed on paper.
On Sunday, October 26, 2008, I send several emails, with the subject line “Operation Super Loire,” accompanied by these images to different radio programs on France Inter, notably Parking de Nuit and Au détour du monde. In one of these messages, I write:
—“From the bank of my own wandering mind, I follow you.
I’m sending you small photos of the great Loire !”
On Friday, October 31, 2008, at 8:59 p.m., in another message addressed to Au détour du monde, I write:
—“For the weekend that is beginning, we are going to switch into ‘sun-square’ mode, in an incubator: along a thousand paths, allowing ourselves to tan!”
That same Friday, October 31, 2008, during the radio program Parking de Nuit, I send a single word at exactly 9:30 p.m. in the message space:
—“Sun”
Later that night, I write again in the comment space of the program Allô la planète on France Inter:
—“Kissé? Wrapped in down, kissed. Aloha, planet.”
Subsequent event (revealing memory)
- During the All Saints’ Day weekend in early November 2008, a major flooding of the Loire River occurs, recalling in its scale the great historical floods of the river.
- On November 2, 2008, Madelyn Dunham, Barack Obama’s maternal grandmother, dies in Hawaii.
Intensification: At the moment Madelyn Dunham’s death is announced on France Inter, the information is immediately followed, in counterpoint, by a report on the flooding of the Loire. The presenter concludes her evening broadcast by adding:
— “for those who see a sign.”
(Note: In French, the word “signe” (sign) is homophonous with “cygne” (swan), a resonance echoed by the presence of birds in the images.)
- On November 3, 2008, during a campaign speech in Charlotte, North Carolina, Barack Obama allows a tear to appear as he speaks of his grandmother.
- On November 4, 2008, Barack Obama is elected the 44th President of the United States.
Cinescriptographic reading (a posteriori)
Read after these events, the glimpses organize themselves around movements of water, passage, elevation, and transmission.
The photographs taken along the Loire compose a geography of circulation: locks, islands, distances, boats, riverbanks, and historical flood markers.
They inscribe a memory of rising water and long trajectories, from inland sources toward the open sea.
The emails and messages trace another form of movement: a virtual itinerary through radio spaces, shifting from one program to another, from night shelter to travel, from incubation to ignition.
The single word “Sun,” sent at a precise moment, acts as a trigger.
What follows is displacement: a change of latitude, a leap toward the Pacific, toward Hawaii.
The death of Madelyn Dunham, announced on the eve of the election, introduces a break: a private loss within a global historical moment.
The election of Barack Obama follows, carrying with it the image of a world crossed, transformed, and set in motion.
This cinescriptographer does not narrate a political event. It traces a configuration of flows: water, light, distance, voice, and passage.
Note
This cinescriptographer establishes no causal link.
It brings together images, messages, and gestures as they were produced, then reread after the fact in the light of subsequent events.
What emerges is not an explanation, but a resonance:
between a river in flood, a transmission across spaces, and a moment of historical crossing.
